Hiring: Junior Web Developer

Springwave Studios is searching for a junior web developer.  The position is part-time and can be fully remote. We will begin with a contract of 10 guaranteed hours a week through February 2021, with the hope that we will increase hours and continue the working relationship as long as it is beneficial to both parties.

What we're looking for

  • Some knowledge of HTML and CSS, with interest to learn more (other languages like PHP or JS a plus!)
  • Comfort learning new software and googling for solutions when confronted with a problem
  • Basic understanding of WordPress
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Residence and eligibility for legal employment in California

What you'll do

  • Build beautiful, fast, responsive websites for our badass clients, usually using WordPress as the core building technology
  • Occasionally assist on other development-related tasks, including but not limited to: coding HTML email templates, installing or interpreting analytics technology, or coding up custom solutions to extend the functionality of existing websites.
  • Write some front- and back-end code on client sites
  • Troubleshooting and creative problem-solving (find the sweet spot between looking for answers on your own and knowing when to ask for help)
  • Collaborate with our small team and learn!
  • Learn and be trained with supervision at first, then work with increased independence as it’s appropriate.

The numbers

  • Start as soon as Dec. 1, 2020
  • $20 per hour
  • 10 guaranteed hours per week through February 2021, with occasional option for more hours

About Springwave Studios

  • Our ideal clients are change-makers like nonprofits, BIPOC-owned businesses, or green companies. Those don’t make up all our clients all the time, but that’s what we go after.
  • We’re a small, relatively new company owned by millennials. We take pride in the intentional way we run things and we always want help doing them better. We’re experts at the work we do for our clients, but we’re pretty new at being employers. We want to work with people who help us build a company they’re proud to be a part of.
  • We’re all working remotely during the pandemic, but we are supportive of remote work in normal times as well. Once it’s safe to gather in person again, we invite you to come work with us in our office in Downtown Long Beach.

Springwave strives to be an inclusive, forward-thinking agency and will consider all qualified applicants.

We’re not accepting applications for this position right now.
